Stewardship

The ancestral teachings and knowledge of our Indigenous ways of knowing and being teaches us how it relates to caring for the land.

Students embark on many field trips across the Squamish homelands, to foster a deep sense of responsibility to each other, and to mother earth, during land-based learning experiences. As well as utilizing the multiple supports from the community, students engage with Recycle BC, to help educate our learning community about circular systems and reducing waste. In addition, students are responsible for a school-wide composting, and a garden program that educates our youth about mitigating food waste, and supporting circular food systems.

Students also participate in the Salmonid Enhancement Program to extend learning and to take action in rebuilding vulnerable salmon stocks. As stewards, you will see our students taking action within the community and on the beaches with clean up, as well as creating awareness to reducing waste.
